LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned hearing of case filed by Czech model Tereza in which the model has challenged 8 years and 8 months jail term awarded by the additional sessions judge in heroin smuggling case.
On 29.5.2019, a two member bench of Lahore High Court under the supervision of Justice Alia Neela has postponed the hearing due to absence of the counsel of appellant Czech model Tereza.
In the appeal Czech model Tereza mentioned that she is innocent and customs officers registered a case of heroin smuggling by their own. Adding more she stated that she came in Pakistan for Islamic studies. She prayed the court that her sentence should be declared as null and void.
Earlier, Czech model Tereza Hluskova who was convicted by the sessions court after being caught with heroin smuggling, challenged the verdict.
Additional Sessions Judge Shehzad Raza sentenced her for 8 years and 8 months in the jail on March 20 for smuggling narcotics from Lahore to Abu Dhabi along with Rs1.13 million fine. Czech embassy’s deputy secretary also attended the hearing on March 20.
She claimed that she came to Pakistan to study Islamic studies. She was unaware about presence of heroin in her luggage.
