LHC admits plea against Voluntary Tax Amnesty Scheme

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has admitted a petition for regular hearing filed against Voluntary Tax Amnesty Scheme (VTAS).

In his plea, Advocate Sheraz Zaka said that the government introduced VTAS for traders which is totally unjustified. Zaka said that this scheme protects the tax evaders and discourages regular tax filers.

He prayed that the court should declare this scheme as null and void because it is totally against the constitution. After hearing the arguments, the court sought a reply from the Federal Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance. The court adjourned the hearing until May 16, 2-2016.
