LHC clears Sharif family in 19 year old tax case

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared Income Tax Appellate Tribunal decision null and void in a case regarding the income tax over the assets of Sharif family.

Two members bench of LHC comprising Justice Abid Aziz Shiekh and Justice Shahid Karim heard the caese and issued writing verdict comprising 48 pages.

Mian Muhammad Sharif had challenged the decision of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal in LHC in 1996 by taking stance that tax department has wrongly estimated his income and served notices upon him to pay income tax.

LHC after hearing the arguments of both sides, declared the nineteen year old decision against the Sharif family null and void.
