LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday has declared petition filed against imposition of surcharge over electricity bills as admissible.
Petition against surcharge on electricity bills was filed by the Judicial Activism Panel of Lahore.
During the hearing, petitioner’s counsel Azhar Siddique informed the Court that government has imposed Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) on electricity bills, which is unjustified. He urged the Court to annul this decision so that the people can get some relief.
Subsequently, the Court asked from federation, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority(Nepra) and ministry of water and power till September 28. Now further hearing of the case will be held on September 28.
