LHC extends stay order in case of services tax on lawyers

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the case regarding the extra services tax on lawyers. Court has extended the date of stay order till 22nd November.

According to the details, Justice Shahid Kareem of Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the appeal filed by the Barrister Muhammad Ahmed Quyoom in which the counsel for appellant argued that the service tax on the lawyers cannot be imposed but the department has imposed the services tax on the practices of the lawyers that is illegal and he appealed the court to suspend the services tax on the lawyers.

After hearing the arguments from the appellant side, Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the parties for the legal arguments in the same case and extanded the stay order till 22 November.

It is pertaining to mentioned here that such type of case was filed by the lawyers against the Punjab Revenue Authority and imposition of services tax on incoming calls.
