LHC issues stay order against luxury tax

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court issued a stay order on three more applications against luxury tax and issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Secretary Excise.

The LHC asked parties to reply until November 10. The Lahore High Court has already has issued a stay order on luxury tax that was imposed by Punjab Government in 2013 Financial Bill. The Punjab Government has imposed luxury tax on residential house measuring two kanals & above. In the Finance Bill 2013-14, the Punjab government levied a luxury tax on residential houses located in a part of rating area of Punjab.
