LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has discarded the application against the collection of Rs 10 as tax for the biometric registration of SIM cards.
As per detail, Applicant said before the honorable court that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has imposed tax on the biometric registration of SIM cards that is illegal. He said it was the duty of telecom companies to duly confirm the registration of users. He requested the court to issue the stay order against the imposition of tax.
After observing the arguments of applicant, the court rejected the application and suggested to contact with PTA to settle the matter.
It is important to mention that a citizen Iffat Chaudhary had lodged an application in Lahore High Court against the receiving of Rs 10 as tax on the biometric registration of mobile phone Sims. Applicant had taken a stance in application that Parliament has the right to impose tax. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has no authority to collect any additional tax by users so the collection of ten rupees is illegal that should be stopped.
