LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has restored the tax recovery notices issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) against Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen.

A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC), under the supervision of Justice Shahid Kareem, heard the appeal filed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in which counsel for the appellant argued that the FBR has sent tax recovery notice of Rs90.01million to Jahangir Tareen on his agriculture income of Rs940million.

Tax evading party Jahangir Tareen challenged the notice before the Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal, and the ATIR has suspended the tax recovery notice by the department.

Appellant counsel further told the court that the order of the Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal is not on the legal grounds and the notice on the agriculture income sent by the FBR is according to the law.

On the other hand, counsel for respondent Jahangir Tareen informed the court that the agriculture land is not owned by him, so the court may restore the order of the Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal.

After hearing the arguments from both parties, court agreed to the arguments of the FBR, accepted the appeal and restored the FBR notice served on Jahangir Tareen.
