LHC restores regulatory duty on import of Chinese mobiles

LAHORE: A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) headed by Justice Khalid Mehmood has restored regulatory duty on import of Chinese mobiles.

During the hearing of the case, counsel for the federal government adopted stance that a single bench of the LHC has declared imposition of regulatory duty on Chinese mobile as illegal. He further said that the Supreme Court upheld the ruling of the Sindh High Court on this issue. The Supreme Court in its judgement said that all the SROs issued on regulatory duty were legal.

He appealed the bench to declare the decision of the single bench as null and void. After hearing the arguments, the two-member bench declared verdict of the single bench as null and void and postponed the hearing of the case till indefinite period.
