LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) called the counsels for final arguments in case filed against the formation of National Tariff Commission (NTC), his chairman and board of directors.
According to details, the counsel of appellant Shafqat Chohan argued before the court that the Chairman and other members of National Tariff Commissions appointed against the merit and on the bases of political backgrounds.
According to the law the members of National Tariff Commission must be five but without appointment of members NTC collecting import duty as anti dumping tax from the importers.
Counsel appealed before the court in light of illegal formation of national tariff commission LHC orders to null and void the tax notices by NTC to the importers. Court also suspends the board of governors without chairman.
After hearing the arguments from appellant the court called the counsel of recipients for final arguments on seven October.
