LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) seeks answer from federal government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in a case against imposition of 10 percent property tax.
According to the details, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza heard the case filed by the appellant against ten percent property tax by the federal government. The counsel for appellant argued that 10 percent property tax has been imposed on the public by violating the rules.
He further added that after the eighteenth amendment in the Constitution of Pakistan and devolution of powers, provincial governments are authorised to impose property tax and not the federal government.
The counsel said that the government will have to amend the law in order to impose tax. He appealed the court to declare the action as null and void.
After hearing the arguments, the LHC sought answer from the government and FBR on next date of hearing.
