LHC seeks reply from FBR on plea filed by Young Doctors Association

LAHORE: Justice Shahid Jamil Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a reply until April 28 from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on a petition filed by Young Doctors Association against imposition of tax on young doctors.

According to details, the office-bearers of the Young Doctors Association has challenged the levy of tax in the LHC. The counsel for Young Doctors Association says that there are 3,000 post graduate doctors and the stipend which is being paid to them is not their salary.

He prayed to the court that post graduate doctors are not functioning as full fledged doctors so the imposition of tax on their stipend should be declared as null and void. The counsel for the FBR sought some time to file a reply. The LHC accepted FBR counsel’s plea and directed him to file the reply until April 28.
