WARSAW: Poland’s flagship airline PLL LOT signed a letter of understanding with Turkish Airlines on expanding commercial ties and will work “towards future joint venture cooperation,” both airlines said in press statements.
The deal will “initiate an enhanced cooperation between relevant Polish, Turkish and beyond markets and also deepen commercial cooperation on the existing ones,” the Turkish Airlines statement reads. The airlines will also conduct joint market analyses, including on the potential of new destinations the firms could jointly offer, PLL LOT said.
The final model of cooperation “has not been decided yet, however both airlines agreed to proceed towards future joint venture cooperation,” the statements read. Turkish Airlines had been in the past considered a potential investor for PLL LOT. However, according to press rumors, LOT recently attracted the attention of private equity fund Indigo Partners, a shareholder of budget airline WizzAir.
