KARACHI: The low gas pressure is badly effecting the production of Pakistan Steels Mills (PSM).

PSM Spokesman Shazim Akhter, in a statement, said that the gas pressure is also affecting the complex machinery of the plant. He said that natural gas plays a vital role at PSM as it is considered as a lifeline for almost all the major production units of this national enterprise.

It is stated that for more than two weeks now SSGCL has reduced the natural gas pressure of PSM to as low as 0.95-1 kg/cm2. As per agreement between PSM and SSGC approved gas pressure is 4-5 kg/cm2 to enable PSM to perform normally which is now continuously denied.

PSM faced a similar situation in January, and then again in March, when it touched 65% of CAPU of its 1.1 million tons of raw steel production per annum.
