LAHORE: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has won Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Business Plan competition 2013, while second and third prizes went to University of Central Punjab (UCP) and Lahore College for Women University.
The function at 90 Shara-e-Quaid-e-Azam, was jointly presided over by Minister for Education, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan and Minister for Environment Col. (r) Shuja Khanzada.
The LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar presented Address of Welcome while Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad also spoke on the occasion.
LCCI Executive Committee Members Shoaib Zahid Malik, Zeeshan Khalil, former Executive Committee Member Syed Muhammad Umair and Chief Executive M/s LXY Global Muhammad Yousaf Jamshed performed as judges.
As many as six leading education institutions including Government College University, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), University of management and Technology (UMT), University of Central Punjab, Lahore College for Women University and national College for Business Administration and Economics (NCBA&E).
Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Provincial Minister Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan said that the education was the only answer to multiple internal and external problems being faced by the country and that the only reason the Punjab government was making all out efforts to impart education to all.
He said that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz was committed to the development of youth and taking a number of initiatives to this regard. “Chief Minister Punjab is utilizing all available resources to equip the youth with quality education”, he said.
Provincial Minister for Environment Shuja Khanzada said the Punjab CM has aspiration to fulfill its commitment with the nation and utilizing all resources to make Punjab an example in South Asia. He said that the country would have enough energy in five years time that it would be able to export it.
The LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar urged the students to focus on their studies as the country was in dire need on innovative entrepreneurs. He said that there was no dearth of resources in the country but only thing that has kept it behind in the unawareness about the latest business techniques and methodologies.
