LONDON: The value of Macau’s merchandise imports fell to MOP6.96 billion (about US$870 million) in January, 18.5 per cent less than a year earlier, official data indicate.
The Statistics and Census Service says the value of exports rose by 1.5 per cent to MOP973 million. Re-exports increased by 8.4 per cent to MOP834 million, while domestic exports decreased by 26.2 per cent to MOP139 million. The result was a January trade deficit of MOP5.98 billion.
