Magistrate orders SHO Morgah to hand over Mercedes to Rawalpindi customs

ISLAMABAD: Magistrate Rawalpindi Ghulam Muhammad Sarfraz has ordered the SHO Morgah to hand over the non-duty-paid vehicle Mercedes Benz Model 2005 to the customs authorities (Directorate Customs I&I Rawalpindi) as per Section 170 of the Custom Act after the completion of inquiry.

According to details, Intelligence and Investigation Officer of Federal Board of Revenue (custom) Maqbool Ahmed had filed an application for handing over of the non-duty-paid vehicle Mercedes impounded by police station Morgah Rawalpindi.

As per report of the local police, the vehicle was taken into custody by the police from the possession of Rashid Mehmood s/o Atif, a resident of district Mirpur AJK, on the suspicion of theft.

Later after the verification of record, it was transpired that a fake number plate was fixed on the said vehicle. As per report of the excise and taxation office Islamabad, the vehicle was neither registered nor duty paid.

The magistrate has said in his order that the local police are bound to hand over the vehicle as soon as any inquiry or trial concludes.
