Main accused in 15 kg gold, Rs 33m smuggling case released

LAHORE: Main accused in 15 kg gold and Rs 33 million smuggling case has been released because the accused has deposited Rs 2 million as fine while admitting his crime, sources told Customs Today here.

The sources said that the accused had admitted his crime that he was carrying the gold and currency to Dubai on the instruction of a party.

The court converted his two month in custody into prisons and ordered release him after payment of fine of Rs 2 million, the sources added.

It was further said that investigations in this regard are underway and Basit is bound to join investigations whenever there need be.

Meanwhile, another source informed that Airport Security Force (ASF) have also been called by the committee formed by the collector of customs Mukarram Jah Ansari. It was reported that the committee has called the ASF officials on July 28.
