LONDON (Alliance News) – SKIL Ports and Logistics Ltd Wednesday said its major new greenfield port and logistics facility being built in India is progressing well despite some minor delays caused by heavy rain.
The independent directors of the company visited the site on Tuesday to monitor progress of the development and meet local authorities and the site management.
“Despite heavier than normal rain falls in early October, which caused some minor delays, activity on site is progressing well,” said SKIL in a statement.
Back in September, the company re-mobilised its workforce at the site after its workforce left the site following some local community issues, which SKIL did not disclose. It said its workforce is working 24 hours a day and said reclamation and infill works are now in operation.
“Sections of the piling gantry, which were fabricated on a dedicated site close to the port development are being delivered for assembly. Over the next three weeks the project will focus on creating a 300 metre bund to reach into the sea to create the area where the piling gantry will be erected for operation to start piling the port 1000 metre quay wall,” it said.
“The directors expect significant progress for the project in coming weeks,” it said in a statement.
SKIL shares were up 3.4% to 43.95 pence per share on Wednesday morning.
