LAHORE: Malala Yousufzai, the Pakistani girl who was among those survived being shot by Taliban terrorists on their struggle for girls’ education, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The proud 17-year-old is the youngest person ever to receive this honour, was awarded gold medal and a diploma at a ceremony in Oslo, joining the ranks of laureates including Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Aung San Suu Kyi.

She made sure to remind the world that she’s just 17 years old.

“I’m the first Pakistani and the youngest person to receive this award,” she said. “I am pretty certain that I am the only Nobel Peace Prize winner that still fights with her younger brothers”.

Critics said that Malala should thank Pakistan Army for rescueing her and saving her life at eleventh hour when without the quick rescue, no chances to survive.

She urged the world to make education and peace their first priority. “Dear brothers and sisters, the so-called world of adults may understand it, but we children don’t. Why is it that countries which we call “strong” are so powerful in creating wars but so weak in bringing peace? Why is it that giving guns is so easy but giving books is so hard? Why is it that making tanks is so easy, but building schools is so difficult?” she questioned.
