Malaysain marine police foil attempt to smuggle 1,200 packets of cooking oil

SANDAKAN: Marine police foiled an attempt to smuggle out 1,200 packets of cooking oil worth almost half a million ringgit near here, today.

The illegal shipments were found onboard a tugboat following a search by a marine police team at a private jetty in Batu Sapi. State Marine Police commander Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Madun said police also arrested a man suspected of being involved in the smuggling activity. “The supplies were to be smuggled out to a neighbouring country.
