“Based on information, they had been supplying various imitation goods to several traders including those in Pasar Borong Pandan and Bazaar Karat for the past four years.

“The counterfeit goods included handbags, caps and belts of brands like Adidas, Nike, Levis, Louis Vuitton and Gucci,” he told reporters at Jalan Kempas Lama.

About 20 KPDNKK officers were involved in the operation but no arrests were made.

“The suspects were asked to head to our office to record their statements,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 8(2)(b) of the Trade Description Act 2011.

He added that those found guilty could face a fine of up to RM15,000 (organisation) for each of the counterfeit items and double the fine for their second offence.

Mohamad Mokhtar said that individuals found guilty of the same offence could face a fine up to RM10,000 for each of the counterfeit items or a jail term of up to three years or both upon conviction.
