KUALA LUMPUR: Trade between Malaysia and China hit 290.65 billion RM (74 billion USD) in 2017, up 20.6 percent from 2016, said Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
Total exports accounted for 126.15 billion RM, up 28 percent year on year, while imports recorded an annual increase of 15.5 percent to 164.50 billion RM.
Matrade Export Promotion & Market Access Division Director (China & North-east Asia Section) Ong Yew Chee said based on the upbeat bilateral trade, the Malaysian government plans to focus on further promoting local companies with high value-added technology products and services, such as those in healthcare, environmental and energy saving, to the Chinese market.
