KUALA LUMPUR: More than RM6 billion in Goods and Services Tax (GST) were recorded, Dewan Rakyat told. Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said of the amount recorded yesterday, some RM3.36 billion of were from imports, while RM2.9 billion were GST net.
“A total of 447,236 business premises were checked between April 1 and June 1. Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism recorded 1,282 cases while the Customs Departments have opened 207 Investigation Papers (IP) for various offences.
“To assist the public who want to forward inquiries, new complaint centres are being set up at Penghulu’s offices. Rela officers are also roped in to channel information to Customs on the errant business operators to us,” he said in responding to a question by Datuk Wira Ahmad Hamzah (BN-Jasin).
