Malaysia cops seize heroin worth RM190,000

IPOH: Some 10kg of heroin pack­ed in 20 plastic bags was seized ​from a drug processing lab in Taiping near here.

The drugs, ​​worth about RM190,000, were seized along with some drug processing equipment after police raided a hut in Simpang, about 70km from here, recently.

“We also confiscated two motorcycles and a lorry,” Perak deputy narcotics chief Supt Abdul Latiff Mehat told a press confe­rence yesterday, adding that it was the biggest drug haul in the state so far this year.

Earlier, police arrested a la­­bour­er in his 40s, who was be­­lieved to have ties to the drug lab.

Supt Abdul Latiff said the suspect was detained near the Taiping rest and service area on the North-South Expressway after police seized some 4.5kg of heroin worth about RM90,000 from him at 12.40pm on Friday.

“We also seized his vehicle. The suspect has eight pre­vious records for drugs and tested po­sitive for methamphetamine,” he added.

He said the suspect was being remanded until tomorrow.
