IPOH: Some 10kg of heroin packed in 20 plastic bags was seized from a drug processing lab in Taiping near here.
The drugs, worth about RM190,000, were seized along with some drug processing equipment after police raided a hut in Simpang, about 70km from here, recently.
“We also confiscated two motorcycles and a lorry,” Perak deputy narcotics chief Supt Abdul Latiff Mehat told a press conference yesterday, adding that it was the biggest drug haul in the state so far this year.
Earlier, police arrested a labourer in his 40s, who was believed to have ties to the drug lab.
Supt Abdul Latiff said the suspect was detained near the Taiping rest and service area on the North-South Expressway after police seized some 4.5kg of heroin worth about RM90,000 from him at 12.40pm on Friday.
“We also seized his vehicle. The suspect has eight previous records for drugs and tested positive for methamphetamine,” he added.
He said the suspect was being remanded until tomorrow.
