KUALA LUMPUR: MALAYSIA is expected to expand its exports to Germany by promoting local industrial technology players and products at Hannover Messe 2018, to be held from today till April 27.
A group of Malaysian machinery products and services exporters will be participating in one of the world’s largest tech trade fairs to promote new areas of trade between the two countries.
“We are equally strong on other areas and this is what we need to showcase to move up the value chain and create brand-champions,” Mohd Shahreen said in a statement recently.
Malaysia’s total trade for machinery, equipment and parts were valued at US$27.64 billion (RM107.54 billion) in 2017 — of which, US$9.34 billion came from exports.
Some of the major items exported were machinery and parts mainly for the semiconductor industry, as well as heating and cooling equipment and parts.
Singapore, the US, Thailand, Indonesia and China were the top five export destinations which accounted for 49.3% share of the total machinery, equipment and parts exported.
Moreover, Germany came in 11th as the country’s export destination.
The selected companies are foreseen to showcase Malaysia’s ability in engineering solutions, precision engineering and machining for sectors such as semiconductor automation, rubber gloves, textile and heavy plants.
In addition, the companies are set to promote solutions related to automation and robotic systems, as well as in data and business intelligence management.
“Some of the companies involved in the programme are already exporting to Europe and are keen to use their participation to further enhance their footprint in the European market,” Mohd Shahreen said.
He said Malaysia’s participation at Hannover Messe 2018 is part of Matrade’s push to highlight homegrown solutions related to Industry 4.0, smart factories, digital and automation robotics to potential global business partners.
