KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested a woman after they recovered 6.2kg of syabu, worth more than half a million ringgit in her possession at the Inanam Bus Terminal on Tuesday.
Police made the arrest after the woman arrived at bus terminal at 6pm. She is suspected to be transporting the drugs from Sandakan. Sabah deputy police commissioner Datuk Awang Sahari Em Hadzeer said police raided the bus and seized a box containing eight packets of drugs wrapped in newspapers.
“The drugs believed methamphetamine (syabu) weigh 6,216g. Following the arrest, police nabbed two men in the state capital and another two in Sandakan on the same day. “We have also confiscated 400g of syabu from the suspects in Sandakan. All suspects are aged between 30 and 50. The drugs worth about RM522,000,” said Awang Sahari at a Press conference today.
Awang Sahari said the group had been active in drug trafficking activity since one year ago. The drugs were meant for local market. He added police also seized five vehicles, including a Mini Cooper, a superbike, other than luxury watches and cash amounting RM107,470. Meanwhile, in a separate development, Awang Sahari confirmed the arrest of two narcotics policemen by the State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over alleged bribery.
The 31-year-old Inspector and 37-year-old Corporal, from the Penampang district police headquarters, were arrested also on Tuesday after a man claimed he paid RM9,800 to prevent the cops from taking action against him for drug abuse.
