ALOR SETAR: Malaysian police have detained five men and a woman in connection with the seizure of an assortment of drugs worth RM110,000 in three separate raids at Kuala Kedah and Langkawi since Wednesday.
Kedah Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief Supt Abdul Razak Mohd Zin said 2.47kg of heroin and 657g of syabu were seized during the raids.
He said on Jan 28, a police team nabbed two men about 11am in Kuala Kedah after seizing 10 packets of syabu and heroin found hidden in a car.
“We believe the drugs were intended for the addict population in Alor Setar and Sungai Petani,” he said at the Kedah police headquarters here the other day.
The suspects, aged 35 and 45, have been remanded for seven days. The following day, a police team picked up a 32-year-old man at the Kuah Jetty, when he allegedly tried to smuggle 250gm of syabu into Langkawi.
Following the arrest, the police raided a house in Kedawang, Langkawi about 1.30pm, the same day and detained a 30-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man after seizing 72.6g of heroin and 0.5g of syabu.
