ALOR SETAR: Malaysian police seized illegal smuggled firearms and arrested four people in a raid at a house here the other day.
State CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Nashir Ya said the suspects, aged between 40 and 60, were a Malaysian woman, a man with Malaysian permanent residence status and two foreigners.
The police raided the house in Taman Desa Seraya at 12.10am and seized a Beretta gun, a fake gun, 15 .32 calibre bullets, one handcuff, one taser gun and eight handphones, he said.
He said three forged authority cards, which bore the suspects’ names and mugshots, were also recovered.
The cards, ACP Mohd Nashir said, identified the bearers as “senior intelligent” of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla, Thailand, “senior intelligent” of Special Investigation Unit of the Thai-Malaysia Border and “special official” of the National Security Council.
“These cards are just to deceive the public. There are no such authority cards,” he said at a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here the other day.
