It is understood that the man had introduced himself as a Customs officer and demanded that the victim, a trader, pay RM2,500 so that he would not take action against him for selling contraband cigarettes and liquor at his shop in Paloh, Kluang.

The man, a former Royal Malaysian Customs driver, was sacked by the department last year.

Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest. He said MACC would seek a remand order on the suspect at the Kluang Magistrate’s Court tomorrow to facilitate investigation.
