KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) at the KL International Airport (KLIA) has thwarted three attempts to smuggle in 12.09 kg of drugs worth RM2.1 million.
Its director Datuk Chik Omar Chik Lim said the first case involved a package containing seven food tins of methamphetamine (0.692 kg) and three tins of compacted ganja (0.979 kg) which arrived on April 21 via courier service from Lagos, Nigeria to Klang, Selangor, worth RM131,480 and RM2,937, respectively.
“This is the first time we have seized ganja and we are still hunting for the owner of the package as we believe he is tied to an arrest on April 16,” he told a media conference here the other day.
