ALOR STAR: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department seized RM2.17mil worth of drugs at a house in Taman Seri Jaya, Ledang in Johor on Friday.
The house is believed to have been converted into a drug laboratory. Customs assistant director-general Datuk Zulkifli Yahya said the 5.15am raid was carried out by the Kedah Customs Narcotic Unit following a public tip off.
Zulkifli said no one was inside the premises during the raid. “Several types of drugs were found in the premises namely caffeine weighing about 28.382kg, 4.309kg of heroin, methamphatamine (0.479kg), 443g ketamin , 695 tablets of ecstasy pills and 1,650 tablets of Eramin 5. “The team also discovered equipment to process the drugs including scales, gas stove, plastic sealers and bottles containing chemicals.
“Initial investigation suggest that the house was not occupied and was solely used for processing and storing the drugs. We are tracking down the owner of the premises,” he told a press conference today. Zulkifli said the drugs were for the local market.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
