Malaysian investors take keen interest in halal meet industry

ISLAMABAD: Malaysian investors have called on Minister of State and Board of Investment Chairman Dr Miftah Ismail and discussed the investment opportunities available in Pakistan.

Malaysian group of Nafas Food Processing & Marketing Company showed interest in building a food processing and halal meat industry in the Special Economic Zone near to Islamabad and then export to Malaysia.

The delegation of Malaysian group of Nafas Food Processing & Marketing Company was headed by Y Bhg Dato Haji Ali Bin Shaikh Ahmad.

The minister informed the delegation that Pakistan is committed to provide an investment friendly regime to investors by offering lucrative fiscal incentives business environment.

The laws have been tailored to safeguard and ensure protection to the investments. The foreign investment is fully protected under the Foreign Private Investment (Promotion & Protection) Act, 1976 and Protection of Economic Reforms Act 1992.

Nafas Food Processing & marketing is a state-owned company responsible for issuing certificate for food to be imported to Malaysia. The Malaysian group is interested to build a food processing and Halal meat industry in the Special Economic Zone near Islamabad and then export to Malaysia.

Dr Miftah assured full cooperation to the Malaysian group for building the food and Halal meat industry in Special Economic Zone in Pakistan. He further said that BOI, being the apex body of the Government for investment promotion and provide facilitation to foreign investors, welcomes to Malaysian businessmen / entrepreneurs to visit Pakistan. The BOI will also facilitate and assure them full support with regard to arranging land in the SEZ, as well as meeting with relevant Ministries/ Divisions/ Departments as and when needed.

At the end MOS/ Chairman, BOI thanked the Nafas Group of Malaysia and appreciated their efforts and intention with regard to boost investment, trade and economic relations between the two countries.
