PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian, who conned an elderly South Korean into withdrawing all his money for the bank, was nabbed at the Incheon International Airport on Wednesday. The Korea Herald today reported that the Malaysian was planning to return to Malaysia with 2 million won (RM7,470), which he stole from the victim.
The Malaysian, who is in his 30s, phoned his victim, posing as a police detective on June 29. He advised the victim to withdraw everything from his bank account as his personal information had been compromised. The man was advised to store it inside a drawer. He was also assigned a new password for his front door, the report said. The suspect then broke into the house and stole about 20 million won (RM74,790) in cash. The Ulsan Nambu Police Station tracked the suspect through CCTV footage and arrested him at the airport on Wednesday. Police recovered 2 million won from the suspect. The remaining cash could not be found.
