Malaysian police seize drugs worth RM2m

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested four suspects and seized drugs worth about RM2 million in four separate raids yesterday. Narcotics Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said in the recent success, after receiving tip-off, the Narcotics Department and Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group conducted a check on a vehicle at a parking lot of a hypermarket in Puchong.

“Checks revealed that the suspects, an Indonesian and a Nigerian had 5kg of syabu in their possession. “Following the duo’s arrest, police conducted a raid at an apartment in Bandar Baru Puchong and seized 2.9kg of syabu,” he said. Mokhtar said police later arrested two other Nigerians believed to be connected to the case at Desa Impiana.

All detained aged between 22 and 35 were remanded until Oct 16. Meanwhile, Mokhtar said police seized 260 gram of drugs stashed inside a religious book in a courier company in Selangor. “There were three books wrapped in the parcel and only one of the books was stashed with the drugs believed to be syabu,” he said. Mokhtar added police have yet to detain any suspects relating to the case.
