KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s economy is expected to grow 5 percent this year and the fiscal deficit will be slightly lower in the coming year than the 3 percent deficit forecast for 2017, the prime minister was quoted saying by state news agency Bernama on Thursday.
The Southeast Asian economy grew at 4.2 percent in 2016 and recorded a surprising 5.8 pct growth in the second quarter of this year. Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also finance minister, will present the 2018 budget in parliament on Friday.
