Malaysia’s GST revenues increase 6% during2016

KUALA LUMPUR: The Goods and Services Tax in Malaysia stands at 6 percent. Sales Tax Rate in Malaysia averaged 8 percent from 2006 until 2015, reaching an all time high of 10 percent in 2007 and a record low of 6 percent in 2011. Sales Tax Rate in Malaysia is reported by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.

Starting on 1 April 2015, Sales and Services Tax was replaced by Goods and Services Tax GST as a part of the Government’s tax reform program to enhance the capability, effectiveness and transparency of tax administration and management. In Malaysia, the sales tax rate is a tax charged to consumers based on the purchase price of certain goods and services.
