SIBU: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has distributed dividends and bonuses amounting to RM130.55bil since the setting up of Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASN) in 1981.
PNB chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said the payment rate was competitive and within 5% to 14% per year.
“The rate is higher than bank deposit rates and finance saving institutions,” he said at the launch of the Minggu Amanah Saham Malaysia 2015 (MSAM) in Sibu yesterday.
Ahmad Sarji said the number of unit trust units in circulation under PNB had reached 202.37 billion and subscribed by 12.34 million unit holders.
“The funds were used to buy shares in 200 companies and property worth billions of ringgit,” he said.
He said PNB appreciated the support of Sarawakians who were now ranked third in terms of value in investments and fifth in terms of unit holders in the country.
“Presently, a total of 20.67 billion units of PNB unit trusts worth RM20.65bil were subscribed to by 1.22 million Sarawakians,” he said.
