DUBLIN: A man in Dublin has been arrested at the Dublin airport for smuggling 22,000 cigarettes. The revenue officers reportedly seized the smuggled cigarettes at the airport.
The cigarettes were found when a passenger who was travelling from Sweden to Dublin was stopped by the officers for questioning. The Lithuanian man said to be 45-years-old, had been carrying contraband cigarettes in his bags.
The man has been arrested and presented before Judge Grainne O’Neill who was taken into custody till the following Tuesday.
The Marlboro Gold cigarettes have an approximate value of 11,400 euros. The cigarettes that were being smuggled represent an estimated loss of 9,100 euros to the exchequer.
