QUETTA: Minister of State and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Marvi Memon has said that a survey is being conduct across the country to register more deserving women to make them beneficiaries of PISP.
She was speaking at the launch of “Beneficiaries Outreach and Communication Strategy of BISP” and addressing separate meetings and ceremonies at MPAs Hostel Balochistan Assembly, Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Balochistan Chamber of Small Industries and Traders.
The BISP ceremony held at MPAs Hostel, Balochistan Assembly was also attended by Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, senior officials and a large number of BISP women beneficiary and other people.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to register all poor and needy women of Balochistan province with BISP in order to make them beneficiary of the program and to eliminate poverty,” she said.
The BISP, she said, was going to conduct nationwide survey 2016 to register maximum number of women with the program. The survey would be completed by 2018 and the women who were not getting benefit from the BISP, would become beneficiary of it soon.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar have been giving special attention towards development of Balochistan. Therefore, huge federal funds have been allocated which will help in eliminating poverty and backwardness from the province besides putting it on track of development, progress and prosperity,” she said.
She urged women of Balochistan to also avail loan from the Prime Minister’s Loan Scheme in order to empower and financially strengthen them.
Congratulating Chief Minister Zehri and Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani for assuming charge of offices of chief minister and speaker Balochistan Assembly, respectively, she said that the federal government would fully support them in the development process of the province.
On the occasion, appreciating the role and services of Marvi Memon to eliminate poverty and to empower women, Chief Minister Zehri assured her of his all-out cooperation in ensuring access of women of all districts of Balochistan to the BISP.
The BISP chairperson told him that the federal government would take all steps to resolve issues faced by women of Baluchistan. Addressing the meetings at Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Balochistan Chamber of Small Industries and Traders, she said that 5.2 million including around 0.2 million from the province were beneficiaries of the BISP.
“Business community and BISP will have to put their joint efforts to eliminate poverty from Balochistan besides empowering women in this province,” she said.
