Customs Preventive foils gold smuggling bid at Multan airport

KARACHI: The MCC Preventive staff posted at Jinnah Terminal has foiled a bid to smuggle large quantity of gold bars, mobile phones laptop and tablets etc worth Rs 7.4 million. Four persons were also arrested in this connection.

According to the details,  a credible information was received that four persons would arrive from Emirates flight from Dubai at Jinnah Terminal. Acting on information received by Assistant Collector Wasif Malik, SPO SM Irfan checked the suspected passengers and seized 1.2 kilograms of gold bars.

The officials also recovered 75 mobile phones, 25 laptops, 15 tablet PCs, 12 Mac books, 60 Ipods from the possession of the suspected passengers.

The accused were presented before the Customs Court and a remand was obtained till August 12, 2015. Further proceedings are still underway.
