QUETTA: The Model Customs Collectorate Quetta has accelerated its efforts of anti-smuggling activities which are resulting in increase of revenue and seizures at different stations working under the jurisdiction of the MCC Quetta. Smuggling, particularly through buses, is strictly being frustrated, he maintained.
The ASO Quetta seized 34,270 liters of Iranian diesel worth Rs1.906million. The ASO also confiscated 388 cartons of fake imported cigarettes priced at Rs5.728million while it also impounded smuggling goods and vehicles valued at Rs108.89million during first 15 days of November’s Financial Year 2017-18.
This was stated by Ashraf Ali, Collector Model Customs Collectorate Quetta, while giving an exclusive interview to Customs Today.
He said there are 11 different anti-smuggling checkposts working under the jurisdiction of Quetta Collectorate nemed Rakhni, Manikhwa, Yaroo, Shella Bagh, Baleli, Khanozai (inactive), Lak Pass, Surab, Nokkundi, Dalbandin and Darkhshan (Bolan).
Explaining the details of the performance of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Quetta during 1st to 15th of November FY17-18, he added that the collectorate took into possession 12 offending vehicles (vehicles used for carrying smuggling goods). He said the ASO impounded 49 Non-Duty-Paid vehicles during said period. The estimated value of the NDP vehicles is Rs52.612million.
The Collector Quetta told CT that, during 15 days of November FY17-18, the collectorate seized imported cloths measured 13,580 yards priced at Rs1.25million. During said period, the ASO Quetta confiscated 450 kilogram of black and green tea worth Rs0.189million whereas it did 1,476 foreign origin smuggling tyres and tubes valued at Rs5.58million.
Ashraf Ali told CT that, during first 15 days of November FY17-18, the ASO seized eight bottles of foreign origin liquor worth Rs0.028million while it did 34,270 liters of diesel priced at Rs1.906million. The ASO impounded 228 foreign origin mobile phones worth Rs0.042million. The ASO also confiscated 388 cartons of fake imported cigarettes valued at Rs5.728million.
The Collector Customs Quetta said that, during first 15 days of November FY17-18, the ASO took into possession 1,550 bags of smuggling urea fertilizer priced at Rs5.39million whereas it did 420 foreign origin smuggling blankets worth Rs0.311million. During said period, the ASO Quetta seized 193,750 Indian Pan Prag and Zafrani Pati valued at Rs1.085million. Giving further details of the seizures, Collector MCC Quetta further told CT that, during above said period, the ASO impounded Indian Gutka priced at Rs2.265million.
