LONDON: McLaren has teased images of its new Sports Series model range, which offers a tightly-cropped shot of the character lines and venting that will run through the new range’s door.

Earlier teasers have included an official shot of a heavily camouflaged prototype tester, along with a revealing video of the new model hurtling along an icy course.

The Sports Series range will comprise three different bodystyles, with a coupe, convertible and fastbacked “GT” expected to be offered.

The Sports Series range of models will see McLaren take on Porsche’s 911 line-up in a more direct assault, and the carmaker believes the new models could easily double its overall sales volume.

“It will provide more volume than a 650S, for sure,” McLaren global sales boss Jolyon Nash told TMR in Melbourne recently.

“In our long-term plans at McLaren, we anticipate that we should see some healthy growth.”

Nash added that the brand will be happy with 3000-3500 sales a year by 2016 or 2017, suggesting the brand will work to maintain some level of exclusivity rather than chasing massive volume.
