LAHORE: Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Ferozepur Road Lahore (MEFRA) chairman Syed Hammad has urged the government to take notice of the uncalled for harassment generating notices being issued by the government department including State Bank of Pakistan, Wasa and others.

He expressed these views while explaining the bottlenecks in way of conducting smooth business to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry office bearers including president Mian Tariq Misbah, SVP Nasir Hameed Khan, and Tahir Manzoor Chaudhary.

On the occasion, MEFRA Senior Vice Chairman Bilal Arif, Vice Chairman Arshad Mahmood, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association Regional Chairman Adeeb Sheikh senior member, Omer Jameel, LCCI executive Committee member Dr Riaz and others were present.

The MEFRA Chairman assured the LCCI newly elected office bearers of all out support and assistance for resolving the business community long outstanding issues.

However, he was of the view that the government should take the business community on board before any decision about the community.

We are always ready to work in close coordination with the government so that no confusing elements breach trust between the government and business community, chairman Syed Hammad said that Covid-19 has made it next to impossible to run business smoothly for the business community even than the businessmen doing their utmost to recover the losses caused by the pandemic.

However, it is worth noting that  both federal and provincial government departments including the State Bank of Pakistan, Wasa, and the local government are turning things difficult for the business community.

“We are being issued uncalled for show cause  notices on smog and dengue issues while we ourselves are doing our best to curtail the bad impact of the issues”.

Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) regional chairman said that SBP, Wasa and local government should take cognisance of the most inappropriate times for the business community and halt back the policy of issuing the show cause notices to the business community.

Such actions on the part of the SBP, Wasa and local government are promoting an atmosphere of harassment and insecurity making the Ease of Doing  Business difficult, he added.

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry office bearers ensure full support to the MEFRA delegation for early resolution of the issue especially issues of show cause notice by SBP, WASA and local government.
