Member Customs Nasir Masroor promoted to BS-22

ISLAMABAD: Nasir Masroor Ahmad, a Pakistan Customs Service officer, has been promoted to BS-22 in the same service with immediate effect and until further orders.

According to the Federal Board of Revenue’s notification, if the officer is drawing performance allowance (equivalent to 100 per cent of the basic pay), he will continue to draw this allowance on his promotion.

Nasir Masroor was promoted to BS-22 in pursuance of approval of the competent authority conveyed vide Establishment Division’s U.O.No.7/1/2016-CP-6 dated 20.02.2017.

Earlier, the post of Member (Customs), BS-21 in FBR (HQ), Islamabad was re-designated as Member (Customs), BS-22 as personal to Nasir Masroor Ahmad (PCS/BS-22) and for as long as it is held by him.

After promotion, the officer assumed the charge of the post of Member Customs (BS-22) and relinquished the charge of the same post of BS-21 with effect from February 20, pursuing the Board’s notification No 0522-C-II/2017 dated 20.02.2017.

Before taking the charge of Member Customs, Nasir was giving his services as Director General of Reforms and Automation after replacing now retired officer, Nisar Muhammad Khan, who had been promoted as new FBR chairman.

Nasir Masroor also served the Board as Member Reforms and Automation for a few months. He had performed his duties as Appraisement-South Chief Collector for four years as well as the Appraisement Collector. Earlier he performed as Chief Tariff in FBR Headquarters, Islamabad.

During his tenure as the DG of Reforms and Automation, Nasir Masroor had introduced significant reforms within the department, which were appreciated by all quarters.

He also gave special attention to the future collaborations between Pakistan Customs and the IATA, as well as working closely with China Customs and Afghan Customs for the development of Electronic Data Interface, mainly to highlight Pakistan Customs’ resolve to trade facilitation and modernisation, besides curbing smuggling and under invoicing.

Being posted as Appraisement-South Chief Collector, Nasir Masroor ensured constant contact with the officials of collectorates within his domain, including Appraisement-West, Appraisement-East and Port Qasim, in order to give them proper guidelines regarding the achievement of revenue targets.
