Member IR Operations Dr Irshad likely to become new FBR chairman

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Inland Revenue Operations Dr Irshad has been selected to assume the charge as new FBR chairman.

Sources told Customs Today that the current FBR chairman, Nisar Mohammad Khan, will retire from service after completion of his tenure in January 2017. It is also necessary to mention here that Dr Irshad has already been granted promotion in BS-22 recently which is mandatory for selection as the FBR chairman.

Sources told that current Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan is likely to be appointed as federal secretary. Member Inland Revenue Operations Dr. Irshad played key role in achieving revenue collection target for FY 2015-16 and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Advisor to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan and current Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan also lauded the performance of Dr. Irshad.  Sources said that there are strong chances that a serving Chairman FBR Nisar Mohammad Khan may be appointed as federal secretary during the month of September or October.
