FBR Member Rehmatullah says tax system being simplified

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue Inland Revenue-Policy Member Rehmatullah Wazir said that best policies are being developed, besides simplifying the tax systems in order to facilitate the taxpayers.

The IR-Policy member stated this while addressing a seminar on “Taxation Laws” arranged by Sialkot Tax Bar Association here at a local hotel. He added that the government did not intend to put burden on the common people in wake of taxes.

Wazir said that the government has directed the FBR to make the tax laws simpler so every person could understand the laws without the help of experts. He further said that issuance of national tax numbers was not a hectic issue more as now people could get their NTN through one window operation.

The data of all taxpayers was being updated through online system overtime to make the system efficient, he said, adding that latest technology was also used to make the FBR more digitalise.

The member also surged the taxpayers to pay their taxes timely as the taxes were essential to run the state affairs efficiently. He also directed the officers and officials to not confuse the taxpayers in tax matters but to facilitate them.

Regional Tax Office Sialkot Chief Commissioner Syed Imran Kazmi, Pakistan Bar Association President Mohsin Nadeem, Vice President Syed Saeed Ahmed Shah and STBA President Haji Abdul Qayyum were also present on the occasion.
