SYDNEY: Mercedes-Benz Australia has revealed price-tag and specs for the wagon version of the popular CLA-Class, local CLA Shooting Brake range.

Designed as a sleek four-door sedan, the wagon extends on that idea by introducing a sizeable hatch compartment at the back. It’s available in four different variant levels, borrowing powertrains from its sedan counterpart.

Kicking off the range is the CLA 200. It comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 115kW of power and 250Nm of torque. On the combined cycle the official consumption rate is just 5.7L/100km/h. Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 8.9 seconds.

Next up is the CLA 200 CDI. It features an even more efficient 2.1-litre turbo-diesel engine developing 100kW and 300Nm. For the combined cycle test it consumes just 4.3L/100km/h. Covering the 0-100km/h sprint takes 9.9 seconds.

For the sporty car fans there’s the CLA 250 Sport 4MATIC. It comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 155kW and 350Nm, and uses a four-wheel drive system to put the power to the ground. The 250 is capable of 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds, while using 6.9L/100km on the combined cycle.

Finally, for the hardcore performance enthusiasts there’s the CLA 45 AMG. It comes with the famed 2.0-litre turbo that develops a record-breaking 265kW and 450Nm. Also with four-wheel drive, this beast can conquer 0-100km/h in just 4.7 seconds. Combined cycle fuel useage is rated at a respectable 7.2L/100km.

In terms of standard features, all CLA Shooting Brake variants come with a power tailgate, 18-inch alloy wheels at minimum, Garmin sat-nav, push-button start, and a reversing camera. The CLA 45 AMG adds a number of performance highlights including a bespoke bodykit, big brakes, special suspension, 19-inch wheels, and a beefier Logic 7 surround sound system.
