CANBERRA: Mercedes has unveiled the teasers of G500 4×4 twin-turbo flagship that would hit the markets in March before the Geneva Motor Show 2015. The new model would be featured with V8 5.5 liter engine with 422 horsepower, the 4.7-liter twin-turbo or the 4-liter one from the C62 have likely been used.

The first thing that we noticed when Mercedes shared this photo via social outlets is that it’s a G500, not a G63 AMG. That means that under the bonnet is a twin-turbo 5.5-liter shared with all kinds of AMG beasts. Normally, the G500 uses a 5.5-liter V8 making just 388 PS. But words is the 4×4 has 422 horsepower, so

Cosmetically speaking, the G500 4×4 is a carbon copy of the 6×6, save for the pickup bead. The massive wheel arch extensions and considerably increased ground clearance make way for large 22-inch wheels with 325/55 off-road tires. The front bumper looks like that of an AMG model while the arches are most likely made from carbon, together with the insert on top of the windshield.

The full designo treatment has been thrown at the interior and a golden paintjob makes this offroader even more of an eye-catcher. The prototype we’ve seen testing were a hulkish green color, so there’s hope for more extreme finishes. Speaking of which, Mercedes says this is a one-time deal, a concept of sorts that it wants to show in Geneva. Never for a moment do we believe them, as everybody from the sheiks of Saudi Arabia to the Kardashians will want one of these bad boys.

So what if they won’t need the 3 locking differentials and auto-inflating tires to go to the shops, the G500 4×4 is awesome and it needs to go into production.
