Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, who was invited as a chief guest, said the Met Office is being equipped with latest technology and made more useful for the masses.

He said the fresh initiatives are taken for timely disbursement of weather related information, adding that the common man would also receive audio and video messages on weather updates through the mobile phone app. Hourly news bulletins would also be livestreamed on the PMD’s Youtube channel, he added.

With the help of modern technology, the minister said, arrangements have been finalised to keep the common man and farmers at district and tehsil level updated on weather conditions.

“Weather forecast and news in video and audio formats will be provided to masses on daily basis,” said the minister, adding that, “beginning from today, these updates would also be made available on different social media platforms.”

Ghulam Sarwar Khan further said the audio and video reports would also be available on Met Office’s updated website besides text from now on.
